The World Ends October 21, 2011 (Camping, Second Try)
May 21 Was a 'Spiritual' Judgment Day, Said Camping; the Real End Was Oct. 21. Oct. 22 Also Arrived
After his May 21, 2011 rapture didn't happen, Harold Camping kept the October date: 'The end is going to come very quietly, probably within the next month.'
What was said
“The end is going to come very quietly, probably within the next month”
— Harold Camping (Family Radio) · said Sep 2011 · due Friday, October 21, 2011
It did come quietly: Friday ended at midnight like any other. ABC News filed it as 'wrong again', the second time that year.
The fine print
On May 23, 2011, two days after the failed May 21 date, Camping told his Open Forum audience: 'It was not a Judgment Day that was visible, and it's a spiritual Judgment Day... But it is Judgment Day' (NPR). The State Journal-Register reported Family Radio was 'sticking to its original assertion that the world will literally come to a fiery end on Oct. 21, 2011.' In September he went back on air with the quoted line (NPR), which carries its own 'probably'. ABC News reported a source saying he had predicted the end 12 times. Earlier Camping dates on file: camping-1994, camping-2011.
