The Story
Front-page Observer story of February 22, 2004, headlined 'Now the Pentagon tells Bush: climate change will destroy us'.
It presented the study, by Peter Schwartz and Doug Randall, as what 'the document predicts', and quoted it: 'Disruption and conflict will be endemic features of life ... Once again, warfare would define human life.'
It also reported that by 2020 'catastrophic' shortages of water and energy would plunge the planet into war.
